HELIOCARE

WHAT CAN I PROVIDE?

Topical photoprotection

Combines Fernblock ® with the most advanced filters containing antioxidant and restorative ingredients offering the best coverage against solar damage. Depending on their mechanism of action, the solar filters are classified by:

Physical or mineral filters, which perform by reflecting the light, creating a screen barrier: the most common being titanium dioxide and zinc oxide.

Inorganic or chemical filters, react by absorption of the ultraviolet solar radiation. They capture the energy and convert it into a different wavelength, innocuous for the skin.

Biological filters are antioxidant and restorative substances, for the most part obtained from plants. It has been observed that their inclusion in photo protectors increase their effectiveness and their security by improving the natural antioxidant protection of our skin and helping repair solar damage. Amongst the best known and with the best photoprotection efficiency we find Fernblock® standardized by Cantabria Labs from Polypodium leucotomos, present in all Heliocare® products.

Moreover, all Heliocare® formulations are enriched with antioxidants, like green tea and vitamins C and E that neutralize free radicals and activate restoring agents.

Oral Photoprotection

Increases skin protection against damage produced by solar radiation, essential to all skin types, especially those non-tolerant or sensitive to solar exposure.

To increase solar protection, it is important to combine both topical and oral photoprotection. Exclusive use of topical photoprotection may present the following inconveniences:

- Even if well applied, topical photoprotection may neutralize only 55% of free radicals, the other 45% may continue to damage the skin.
- The amount of sun screen usually applied is not enough: the solar protection factor (SPF) is based on 2 mg/cm2 (equivalent amount to 9 teaspoons) and average amount applied is 0,5 mg/cm2.
- Not all areas are well covered (ears, neck and nose).
- Protection is applied late (30 minutes before exposure is recommended) and it is not applied with sufficient frequency (every 2-3 hours).
- UVA rays hold steady throughout the day and year.
- Loss of effectiveness is due to perspiration, swimming and contact with sand, towels…

Ideal photoprotection includes the application of topical sun protection with highly enriched SPF with antioxidant and restorative agents as well as the oral administration of a food complement with demonstrated scientific photo protector efficiency, such as the exclusive standardized extract by Cantabria Labs Polypodium leucotomos, Fernblock®
